About Forest View Lodge

The Forest View Lodge is a luxurious cabin featuring an exhilarating view overlooking the Red River Gorge. At nearly 1,300 feet in elevation, and with cliff-tops within 25′ on three sides of the land peninsula on which the lodge is situated, this is truly a spectacular destination for The Hot Room’s Labor Day retreat.

Where is Red River Gorge located?

In east-central Kentucky, the Red River Gorge sits tucked away inside the expansive Daniel Boone National Forest. The historic Red River cuts through the gorge, and over millions of years carved the over 150 sandstone arches within the geological area’s 29,000 acres. This is the only area east of the Rocky Mountains that boast as many freestanding arches, in addition to a mix of rock shelters, jagged cliffs, natural forming bridges, and waterfalls. 

The area has been designated as a National Natural Landmark, which recognizes the gorge’s outstanding example of the natural history of the United States.  It is about a 3.5-hour drive from Indianapolis and about a 6.5 hour drive from Chicago.  

Can I fly to Red River Gorge?

The nearest airport to Red River Gorge is Blue Grass Airport in Lexington (LEX). From there, it is about an hour drive to Red River Gorge. 

Where will we stay in Red River Gorge?

The Forest View Lodge is a luxurious cabin featuring an exhilarating view overlooking the Red River Gorge. At nearly 1,300 feet in elevation, and with cliff-tops within 25′ on three sides of the land peninsula on which the lodge is situated, this is truly a spectacular destination for The Hot Room’s Labor Day retreat. 

The Forest View Lodge also features an awesome 13′ long hot tub, a pool table, 3 spacious decks (1 on each level), Large screen TV’s are located on each floor, as well as in each bedroom.  Fiber-optic internet service provides high speed Wifi throughout the cabin. Cliff-view bedrooms have sliding glass doors leading onto the spacious decks which permits spectacular views even from bed. 

Can I camp there?

You may camp anywhere in the Daniel Boone National Forest and pay a $100/day fee to access Forest View for meals & snacks, beer & wine, yoga, laundry, hot tub access, and shower access.  

All vehicles on KY 15 or in the Red River Gorge and Indian Creek area north of KY 15 must display a recreation permit for backcountry camping between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. $3/day; $5/3 days; $30/annual pass. Can I stay elsewhere and join the group for meals and activities?

If Forest View sells out and you’d still like to join the group, you are welcome to find accommodations elsewhere and pay a $100/day fee to access Forest View for meals & snacks, beer & wine, yoga, laundry, hot tub access and shower access. 

Are children welcome?

This is a family-friendly retreat! Each room can sleep a minimum of 4 people. Children are welcome to join in for yoga, hiking and any of the optional excursions.  

Will I have my own bathroom?

Each room at Forest View has a private bathroom that will only be shared with the other people in your room. 

When should I plan to arrive?

You may arrive anytime after 4pm on Friday, September 3. Our first yoga class will be at 6pm followed by dinner, drinks and campfire treats.  

When should I plan to leave?

The retreat will conclude with a Labor Day BBQ on Monday, September 6, 11am-2pm. 

What is included in the per room price?

When and where will we have yoga classes?

Forest View features 3 levels of spacious outdoor decks for us to practice on. Please bring your own mat and props. 

When and where will we go hiking?

We will offer 3 guided easy to moderate hikes to see the best of the Daniel Boone National Forest. Additional, optional excursions will also be available for a fee. 

You will use your own vehicle to drive to the hiking trails, all within a short distance from Forest View. We will do our best to carpool and take as few cars as possible.  

What options are there for additional excursions?

All additional excursions must be reserved through Erin by September 1. 

Top to Bottom in Red River Gorge, 4-5 hour guided hike with lunch. $85/pp 

Soar the Gorge Ziplining, 2 hour adventure. $99/pp, $89 kids under 12. 

What kind of meals are included?

Chef and co-founder of Milktooth, Ashley Brooks, will be our personal chef offering two meals a day with unique and healthy grab & go snacks offered throughout the day. Vegan, gluten-free options will be available at each meal. If you have a special dietary restriction beyond that, we will do our best to accommodate you.  

Can we bring alcohol to Forest View?

Yes, you may bring whatever you’d like to drink. A curated selection of beer and wine will be offered at meals in addition to coffee, tea, water and coconut water.  

Is laundry available?

There is a large capacity washer and dryer with laundry soap. Guests are welcome to use it anytime.  

When is payment due?

A $500 deposit is required to reserve your room. Full payment is due by September 1, 2021. Payment plans are available with charges on the 1st and 15th of the month through August 2021. 

Can I use my member retreat credit?

Only one member per room may use their retreat credit or multiple members may use partial credit equaling no greater than $300 per room. Ultimate Members have a yearly $200 credit and Ultimate Plus Members have a yearly $300 credit. Day Passes are not eligible for retreat credits.
