To say Siobhán is passionate about exercise would be an understatement. Simply put, fitness, health, and wellness are her way of life, it is the motivation and inspiration that drives her through life.
It all began at the tender age of 5 when Siobhán was first introduced to Pilates/calisthenics and yoga by her mother by watching the 1970s PBS program “Lilias, Yoga, and You.” Captivated by the serenity and elegance of Lilias along with the strength and athleticism of the movements, Siobhán would voluntarily wake up at the crack of dawn to join her mother’s daily exercise regime. 40+ years later, Siobhán still wakes up at the crack of dawn for her own daily mat practice.
Originally from Honolulu, Hawai’i, Siobhán’s love for dance began as a hula dancer at age 6, quickly finding herself performing on numerous stages across the state, country, and world.
She then moved to Paris, France at 13 with her family, remaining there until she graduated high school. Exercise continued to be an important factor in Siobhán’s life as she began a modeling career in those early teen years, spending her summers in Tokyo, Japan, working as an editorial fashion and commercial lifestyle/fitness model, as well as a fit model for designers.
Finding her way back to the U.S to attend Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, Siobhán returned to her dance roots mentoring kids at the local YMCA, using dance and fitness as a means to engage kids and help them build their self-confidence and personal empowerment. She continued working with the youth after graduation when she moved to Aspen, CO, and had the opportunity to teach dance and creative movement to young kids and teens at Dance Progressions.
Upon moving to Brooklyn, NY, Siobhán expanded her love of movement to also include health and wellness. First setting her sights on food and nutrition, Siobhan started her own catering company, Red Wagon Catering, which catered specifically to the fashion elite of New York City. Following the birth of her fourth and fifth child, twin boys, Siobhán hung up her chef jacket and joined the ‘Start With Why’ team, under the leadership and mentorship of the author and inspirational TED talk speaker, Simon Sinek. She worked with Simon and his team of keynote speakers to inspire individuals all over the world to find their true purpose in life, and their Why. Personally inspired by Simon’s message, Siobhán quickly realized her life’s purpose has been where she has always felt most in her element – in a studio, on her mat, moving and flowing. Siobhán quickly got her Level 1 Inferno Hot Pilates certification and promptly began moonlighting as a teacher at her place of practice, YoBK in Brooklyn, NY. As her popularity quickly grew and her classes quickly sold out, Siobhán then went for her Level 2 Inferno Hot Pilates training and on to receive her Baron Baptiste’s Power Yoga Level 1 certification.
She then went on to complete the East River Pilates Mat and Anatomy course. Most recently Siobhán has completed the training program with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition to become a certified Health Coach, tying together her experience and knowledge of food, with her love of exercise and wellness.
Having recently moved to the North Shore with her three youngest children, Siobhán has found her home here at The Hot Room thrilled to be fulfilling her life’s purpose, doing what she loves and does best, and sharing her passion for pilates and yoga with others.
